d.lead addresses the two core challenges of digitalization:
The question of how entrepreneurs, leaders and individuals must change in order to successfully shape digital transformation.
And the question of why this requires not only changing how we deal with the classic drivers of success in organizations (strategies, structures, processes, IT, etc.), but also our understanding of leadership and the leadership culture lived in everyday practice.
The fact that, alongside the transactional management side (strategies, goals and numbers), the transformative leadership side (culture, collaboration and emotional dynamics) is equally powerful is undeniable. Ignoring it – simply because it is not visible and only partially measurable – would be like denying gravity. It still works. A sailor uses the wind instead of resisting it.
We firmly believe that digitalization can only become a success and truly make our lives simpler, safer and more livable (rather than the opposite) if we fundamentally change the way organizations and institutions are led – both in business and in the public sector.
These changes must first take place deep within the system and not merely on the surface in the form of foosball tables, sneakers and other expressions of the new casualness that are increasingly entering management environments. Then external transformation will succeed all the more effortlessly.
To do justice to the topic of digitalization, we chose an agile and perhaps even disruptive approach for this book: it is published online at www.dlead.de, where you can download it free of charge for offline reading as an iBooks file, eBook or PDF.
It will initially grow empirically and incrementally in the accompanying blog and later through further updates.
You will find my contribution “lost in transformation” in the first chapter “Values and visions in times of transformation” right at the beginning of the book. Together with insightful colleagues, we have compiled our best ideas and methods here.
